Kindness of a stranger.

[day twenty-three]
Today while Cort & I were at the grocery store,
I was walking in the baby food aisle,
A elderly man accidentally bumped his cart against mine,
I say sorry and he said "oh no that was my fault."
I smile and start to walk off then he said "Hey do you have a minuet?"
I say "yes!" and he hands me a dollar and says "get the kid a candy bar"
I didn't end up getting him a candy bar because Cort is only 7 months,
I ended up getting him some mum mums  and he ate one when we got home,
So to that stranger who blessed Cort, thank you!

Q & A

{day eighteen}

"What's your biggest fear about being a mom?"

  • Right up until a few days before I had Cort I really didn't have any fears,                         Then I started thinking, "can I really do this?" I'm going to be responsible for another human being! Feeding changing, when he cry's I'll need to know what to do to help him! But as soon as I saw him I knew I could do this!                                                                 I am his Mother and he is my Son,                                                                                 Now I really don't have any fears,                                                                          Because I know God wont give me anything I cant handle.

"What character quality is your favorite about you husband?"

  • To be Honest there are so many, but here are afew, He is kind & sweet, He is a leader, but a gentle one and He is so great with Cort, When I have a rough day he is there for me, I cant imagine having a better husband!

"What do you find to be the most challenging part about being a mom?"

  • The lack of sleep! Especially when he is sick, When his noes is so stuffed up he cant eat very good, or he's crying because his throat hurts. It just makes be feel so bad because I can't do much to help him.

"What has been the easiest age or stage of Cort's life so far?"

  • I'd say when he was 5 months old, He could sit up great so he was happy and could watch me & play, But he wasn't crawling all over the place getting into stuff,                 But honestly I love every stage, It's so fun to see him grow and change every month!

My first Vlog

[day seventeen]

Today's prompt: Be brave! Make a vlog!

I've never made a vlog before but figured this was a good place to stat, and sorry I was looking at the screen vs the camera in most of the video :)

Most people don't know this but..

[day sixteen]

Today's prompt. "Most people don't know this but..."
Somethings you may or may not know about me.

I do not like pie.

I come from a family of 8 children, 6 brothers and 1 sister,

I hate my handwriting,
if I am writing something down and I'm in a group
I'll hide my paper so people don't see my writing,

I love books, but never read,

I have really bad eyesight, I've had to have glasses since I was 9.

I always have to have my toe nails painted.

I love the idea of exercising, but never do it,

I used to chew my nails

I have always been self conscious of the way I looked & dressed till I got married,
now I don't care nearly as much,
because if John loves me how I am it doesn't matter what others think.

My favorite number is 5.

I like even numbers when adjusting the volume on the TV

My favorite color is green, but I only have a couple shirts that are green,

I loved my childhood and would love for Cort to have one like mine,
exploring the woods, running barefoot in the grass and playing in our sandbox,

Why I blog.

[Day FOURTEEN]

Today's Prompt "When did you start blogging and why?"

I published my first blog post on March 31st 2014,

You can read that HERE.

My reason for starting a blog was I wanted a place to write my thoughts and feelings on things, I am a woman of few words when I'm talking in public or talking to people I don't know, I also don't really like to write,
But I felt like this would be a good way for me,
odds are no one reads these, so that way I can get my thoughts out while practicing my writing and such and I don't feel self conscious.
I also wanted a place to share my photos and recipes,
and above all else I want to help people with this blog & be encouraging and give glory to God.

Be sure to check out the giveaway!

Our Story.

{day thirteen}

Today's prompt. "Your current relationship status. If dating/married, give us a glimpse of your story!"

I am Married To the Love of My Life John,
& here is Our "Love Story"

I will begin at the Beginning.
When I was 14 1/2, God told me I was going to Marry John,
At the time I had a hard time believing it,
I had absolutely no interest in him plus he was 3 1/2 years older then me,
and for a 14 years old that a large age gap!
But I figured I should probably trust God ;) [he knows what he's doing]
So for the next 6 months I tried to get to know him,
He went to my church.
I didn't really talk to him much, just watched him how he acted,
and seeing what his personality was,
as I watched him I realized that God might be right [ imagine that ;) ]
I found myself liking him more & more.
On my 15th birthday I felt God telling me to Talk to him,
So I texted him,
and told him I liked him and asked him if he liked me.
[totally real high school right? haha]
He replied he didn't think so,
I was devastated,
I cried and prayed to God to tell me what I should do,
and to help me know what his plan was,
I felt lost,
I trusted God & then felt broken.
About a week later,
I got a text from John, He said that he thinks that now he might like me,
I was surprised and confused.
*Back story, Before this John had been praying to God that whoever he was supposed to marry would basically tell him that she was interested,
When I Texted him, he didn't know what to think,
Then later he realized God gave him the sign he wanted*
Over the next few weeks We talked and asked my parents if we could date,
they said no, I needed to wait till I was almost 17.

So for the next year and a half we texted and saw each other at church and youth group events,
I have to admit it was a hard time, liking Someone so much but not being able to talk to them in person for more then a minuet or two,
but finally the time came,  in December of 2011 we started dating,

It was so nice to be about to talk and hang out and be a couple, we went 4 wheeling, skating & to movies, games at my parents, it was so nice to do things together!
Early in our relationship we know we wanted to get married, so in august I went wedding dress shopping with my mom,
I didn't tell john because I didn't want him to feel like I was trying to make him propose, but I know it was coming pretty soon,

And on September 23rd 2012 we got engaged,
We were at his sister after spending some time there with her watching movies,
we walked outside to say goodbye and go home,
we were by his truck and he said
 "I have something for you"
Opened the door to his truck and pulled out the ring box and then the RING!
I said yes and I was so surprised & happy!
that started all the wedding prep!
It was so fun getting to know him even more with getting stuff ready for the wedding,
seeing him make decisions about about wedding stuff, & our future house and talking about  building our lives together,
it was great seeing him and knowing he's going to be my husband!

On March 23rd 2013 we got married, it was such a cold day,
I was hoping for green grass and sunlight, nope snow!
But everything still turned out beautiful,

we went on our honeymoon to South Carolina,
we flew there and drive back in a truck we bought,
it was so fun road tripping it back home,
talking on those long drives was great,
when we got back I got to ride with John while he would plow,
or help him fix a barn roof, build a fence.
I loved being a farmers wife, but we knew we wanted kids.

and on February 12th 2014 we had our sweet boy Cort Granger!
Now it is so fun seeing John being a father to Cort,
and seeing him with Cort makes me love him even more,
and I know with each passing day, month & year our love for each other will grow,

There are three things that amaze me --
no, four things I do not understand:
how an eagle glides through the sky,
how a snake slithers on a rock,
how a ship navigates the ocean,
how a man loves a woman.
Proverbs 30:18-19

Whats your love story? I'd love to hear alittle bit about it!

7 month update

[day twelve]

Cort is 7 month old today!
Its hard to believe how much he has grown and changed this past month,
For me it has probably been the hardest two weeks since I've had him,
He's gotten two teeth in that past two weeks and has decided naps are over rated,
which is not fun for mommy or baby!
Even though he wont nap he still is usually pretty cheerful -so thankful for that!
He is climbing everywhere and pulling himself up on EVERYTHING,
He try's to let got of what he is holding on to and stand there all by himself for about 10-15 seconds, then he gets scared and grabs for my hand.
He also yesterday climbed onto the dishwasher!
I have a feeling that this next month he is going to be getting into everything and moving even more, I wouldn't be surprised if in the next two months he will be walking, but we will see!

*They say a picture is worth a thousand word, so I added several :)

Who inspires you? [day eleven]

Today's prompt "How do you stay inspired? Who inspires you the most?"

Alot of things inspire me, here are afew of them.

The Woman Who Fears the Lord
10
An excellent wife who can find?

She is far more precious than jewels.
11
The heart of her husband trusts in her,
and he will have no lack of gain.
12
She does him good, and not harm,
all the days of her life.
13
She seeks wool and flax,
    and works with willing hands.
14
She is like the ships of the merchant;
she brings her food from afar.
15
She rises while it is yet night
and provides food for her household
    and portions for her maidens.
16
She considers a field and buys it;
with the fruit of her hands she plants a vineyard.
17
She dresses herself[b] with strength
    and makes her arms strong.
18
She perceives that her merchandise is profitable.
Her lamp does not go out at night.
19
She puts her hands to the distaff,
and her hands hold the spindle.
20
She opens her hand to the poor
and reaches out her hands to the needy.
21
She is not afraid of snow for her household,
for all her household are clothed in scarlet.[c]
22
She makes bed coverings for herself;
her clothing is fine linen and purple.
23
Her husband is known in the gates
when he sits among the elders of the land.
24
She makes linen garments and sells them;
she delivers sashes to the merchant.
25
Strength and dignity are her clothing,
and she laughs at the time to come.
26
She opens her mouth with wisdom,
and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.
27
She looks well to the ways of her household
and does not eat the bread of idleness.
28
Her children rise up and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her:
29
“Many women have done excellently,
    but you surpass them all.”
30
Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain,
but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
31
Give her of the fruit of her hands,
and let her works praise her in the gates.
