TWO YEARS // Cort

Weight: Cort is 28 lbs and 34 inches tall. He did SO good at his Doctor's check up! He sat good when they checked his heart and his temperature, and stood really still when they weighed him!
Sleep: Cort has been doing pretty good with sleep, He still takes a nap around 1:00-1:30 for about a hour or two, we moved him to a twin bed about 5 months ago and that's worked great for him! When he wakes up from his nap or in the morning he knocks so sweetly on his door till we come and get him. He goes to bed around 7:30-8:00pm and wakes up anywhere from 6:30-7:30am.
Eating:  Cort is still a VERY picky eater! Right now he likes string cheese, pancakes with reese's spread on it, goldfish, veggie straws, yogurt covered raisins, applesauce, *sometimes* fruit/veggie smoothies, and that's about it, everyday, every meal that's all he will eat. Its hard but I know he won't always be quite as picky, so I show him new food, but he usually just pushes it away. and I try not to stress about it!
Clothing: Cort is in size 2T in shirts and 24 month pants, pjs he is in size 24 month/ 2T, shoes he is in a 7 or a 8, and size 5 diapers.
Mood: Cort is such a HAPPY boy! He giving everyone hugs and staying "HI!". He is a very determined little guy. If he wants something done, he gets it done, he can't stand it when something isn't how it should be, and he is a very organized little guy, if he takes a book off his shelf during naptime, he outs them back when he wakes up! if He sees a door open that shouldn't be, or a cupboard door left open he makes sure it is closed. If he or I drops something when he's in his highchair he says "uh oh" till I pick it up.
Loves:  Cort Loves his baby sister Hazel, He is so so very sweet with her, he loves giving her hugs and kisses, putting her nuk back in her mouth and playing "sleepy time" on her play mat with her. He loves driving his trucks around and saying "vroom vroom" "Car!". Cort loves riding his bike around and honking the horn and saying "beep beep!" and he loves helping me cook, bake and clean in the kitchen, He loves his Polly goat and playing outside in the snow! But I think his favorite thing to do is to go to work with his Daddy and ride in the tractors with him!
Looking Forward To: I can't wait to see how Cort grows and learns this year, I cant wait to see the plan God has for him!

Two week update // Hazel & Mommy.

Hazel's two week update!
Weight: Hazel is 7lbs 8oz and just over 18 1/2 inches long.
We went in for a checkup at 11 days old.  But it was a little bit of an ordeal to get the right weight! Here's the story. First off when we left the hospital Hazel was 6 lbs 14oz, and at 3 days old we went in to check her bilirubin levels and weight check, Her levels were great and she had gained an ounce and was now 6lbs 15oz, I thought "great! She's done losing weight and started gaining her weight back." So fast forward 8 days >>> We go in and put her on the scale, The nurse says "OK, She's 6lbs 7oz." I was surprised and said "Are you sure?" She said Yes! but we put her back on and it showed the same weight.. We go back to the room and I wait for the doctor to come in. My mind was spinning. "I thought she had started gaining, But now she's down so much.. She's had lots of wet diapers.. I thought I'd know if she hasn't been eating enough...am I going to be pressured into doing some supplement formula?.." The Doctor comes in started asking the regular questions they ask, She's asked what Hazel's starting weight was and then looked surprised that she had lost so much weight especially when I told her she had started gaining and how many wet/dirty diapers she has a day. She asked if I'd like her to check her weight again. I said YES! She put her back on the scale. and it showed her at 6lbs 8oz.. she restarted the scale and weighed her again. now she was 6lbs 10oz.. So something was up! they brought her to a different scale and She was 7lbs 8oz! I was SO SO relieved, She was gaining weight! I am so glad we re weighed her, otherwise I would have been so worried!
Sleep: Hazel is sleeping great! She wakes up 2-3 times a night, but sleeps 3-5 hour stretches which is so nice! as soon as she nurses she goes right back to sleep. during the day she has spends an hour or so awake then sleeps for a hour or two.
Eating: Hazel is such a good nurser, She latches great and will nurse normally about 5-7 min Every two hours. but Yesterday and today she's started nursing more like 10-15 min so I think she's going through a growth spurt!
Random fact: Hazel has nursed a total of 23 hours since shes been born. And I've changed 155 diapers. (thanks to my app for keeping track)
Clothing: She is in newborn size clothes and newborn diapers, But starting to grow out of her 'up to 7lbs clothes' in length
Mood: She is such a content baby! She lets out a cry once when she's hungry then again after a little while if I don't feed her right away, Sometimes she gets a little fussy, But all she need is for me to swaddle her and give her a nuk and she is very happy looking at us or sometimes falls asleep.
Loves:  Hazel loves,  Mommies milk. being swaddled. pooping. trying to pee on mommy and daddy. sometimes big brother as long as he does kiss her to much. and being awake and looking around!
Milestones: Hazel lost her umbilical cord at one week, so it's nice to be able to give her a real bath when she needs it! She has really good neck control and likes holding her head up by herself and trying to do sit ups!
Looking Forward To: I'm looking looking forward to every milestone, every day, trying to enjoy every moment, because I know it will go so very fast!

Mommy Postpartum update // Two weeks

Weight: I now weigh 125 lbs. so that puts me at 10lbs from my pr pregnancy weight.

Recovery: I'm feeling great! The first few days were hard with having alot of afterpains when I was nursing, But only had to take Ibuprofen once. But I'm feeling So much better then after I had Cort, Which is so great considering I have to chase after Cort and take after a newborn. I can't wait for the weather to get nicer so I can get outside more and get out for walks!

Emotions: So far i've been doing pretty good, Not feeling down or sad, Some day it's hard when both kids are crying and I’m trying to make supper, But I stick Hazel in my Solly wrap and she's happy, start some worship music and set Cort up with coloring, play dough or a puzzle and tell myself “I can get through this!” And Then I’m very grateful when John gets home from work for the day!!

Birth story // Hazel Mae Schloneger [1-31-16],

I'm not sure where to start, giving birth is such a huge event, and I don't want to leave anything out or forget anything,
because this isn't just me sharing with you guys my birth story,
but its a record for myself so years later I can read about the birth of our daughter.

I’ll be sharing a lot of details about childbirth. If that’s "too much information" for you, then you should just read the condensed version HERE.
Otherwise, enjoy!

So here we go! If you've been keeping up to date with my pregnancy updates you would know that Ive been having alot of braxton hicks for weeks and weeks, and as the weeks past they were very time able, if I sat down to time them they would almost always be 5 min apart lasting 30 seconds. but I knew they were not real labor contractions because they didn't hurt,
they were annoying and somewhat uncomfortable, at my 38 week appointment I was 3cm dilated and 75% effaced and my doctor said she was very low. that was a Tuesday,

Putting Cort to work ;)
As the week went on I kept feeling about the same, but I got a serious nesting bug! I was cleaning EVERYTHING scrubbing floors, washing cabinets doors and outlet covers, skip ahead afew days to Saturday January 30th.  I decided I needed to get afew more things done because you never know when you are going to go into labor and i wanted to make sure the house and random chores were done, I organized the goat barn some more, brought out two 1/2 full 5 gallon buckets of water for Polly and shoveled off our porch, noticed afew more braxton hicks then normal,
but at that point I had just started to ignore them,
That afternoon John, Cort and I were invited to go bowling for Cort's cousins birthday party with family, so we went there to bowl, but Cort didn't want to bowl, or even be in the bowling alley, so John took Cort outside and I ended up having to bowling for all of us. that got done around 3:30 pm, We went to some stores to pick up afew things, and as we were walking around I started noticing that these braxton hicks were alittle more intense then my normal ones, I took note of that and started timing them as we were driving home, they were about 9 min apart lasting a min,

we got home and John took Cort to do some work at the barn, the contractions were still continuing, so I decided to take a bath, because Ive always heard if it was fake labor the warm bath would help stop them and if it was real the bath would help get things started, I layed in the bath for an hour, and they went from 8min apart to 5 min apart. around 7:30 I texted my mom and let her know I was pretty sure I was in labor, but want sure, the contractions were intense, but nothing I had to breath through, 8:00pm rolls around and the contractions go from every 5min and lasting 60 seconds to every 10 min and lasting 30 seconds, I was so disappointed
I was so excited at the thought of meeting my little girl and it was looking like the contractions were dying down, we put Cort to bed, and started watching some TV, around 8:30-8:45 my contractions suddenly starting back up again at 5 min apart lasting a minuet and a half and alot more intense,
I called my mom and told her she should probably come to the house to watch Cort so John and I could go to the hospital "if I really was in labor".
At 9:00pm and they were back to lasting 60 seconds and more intense,
I didn't feel like I wanted to talk or walk through them,
I finally believed I really was in labor.

We headed out to the hospital and got there just after 10:00, we Checked into the hospital, they checked me and I was 5cm with a bulging bag of water.

I actually was in labor!

We texted family to let them know I was in labor and John and I prayed together,
they monitored me for a bit to make sure Hazel was handling the contractions well, then they unhooked me and I walked around the room some and sat on the birthing ball. 11:45pm rolled around and I asked if they would set up the tub,
They checked me and I was 7cm and fully effaced! I relaxed in the tub and turned on the jets, The contractions were still about 5 min apart lasting about a min, in between contractions i almost didn't feel like i was in labor! I could talk to John,
And we talked about what we thought our daughter would look like,
as time went on the contractions got stronger and stronger,
around 12:15 am I started feeling almost like I had to push,
They checked me and I was almost 9cm! I got out of the tub and got in the bed,
12:24am my water broke and they got the Doctor, around 12:26 and I started pushing, As I was pushing I heard the Doctor say "Oh looks like shes coming face up!"
She was coming out posterior, Which I knew usually was alot harder to deliver and usually is associated with back labor, which I didn't have at all!

After a few more pushes and Hazel Mae was born on January 31st at 12:38am, After only about 12 minuets of pushing and no tears she was here!

They put her on my chest and I was instantly in love! John and I talked to her and she just looked wide eyed at us. She had a FULL head of hair and long dainty fingers! after alittle bit she started to nurse, she latched right away and ate for almost a hour!

After awhile they took her to the bassinet in the room to weigh and measure her,

She was 7 pounds 2 ounces and 18 1/2 long! they moved us to my recovery room, and we all went to bed. This labor was so much more different then my labor with Cort, it was faster, and my recovery has been much much easier! I am so grateful and blessed that I had a wonderful labor and delivery experience. I feel like what has really helped me in both my pregnancies/births is prayer. Giving your anxiety, worry, fear and pain to God.
